My daughter has been swimming with the West Bend Swim Club for about a year and a half. I cannot believe the confidence this has instilled in her. Having a community pool is a great resource for any community. The importance of being able to swim, even if it's just to hold your head above water, can be life saving. Let's keep this valuable resource around for another generation of West Bend families.

Thank you so very much for offering these special deals to assist with raising funds for the pool. They have been fabulous! I was able to pick up some pizzas at Papa Murphys, some wine at Jeff's Spirit's on Main, will be going to Jumbo's today and perhaps even Texas Road House on Friday! I hope that everyone takes advantage of these great ways to assist with fundraising! Great Idea!

Its just great to see the community come together in support of the pool lately. With the girls season just ending and the boys season in high gear, knowing we still have a place in West bend to hold competitions like this is just great. Thanks to everyone who has supported this great facility.

I have been involved in swimming all my life, but not until my daughter started swimming competitively did I really found out about the diminishing availability of pools. All children (and adults) should have access to swim lessons and pools. Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of accidental deaths for children under 16. How many for our children and adults couldn't swim to safety? We NEED this facility.

Thanks you to everyone who came to the Brat Fry at Pick N Save South Store in West Bend on Saturday October 1st. It was great to see so many people both buy a brat or burg to support our effort, and/or donate money to the cause. Many people were interested in the calendars, I hope they follow through. This was a great success and shows how much support we really have. Keep getting the word out-the pool is not saved yet!

Thanks a lot to the Rolfs family for their promise to match up to $60,000 in new donations to save our pool. Everyone of us who uses the pool really appreciates it!

We are thankful that West Bend has a pool that we can hold our Badger Middle All-School Triathlon at.
Thanks for keeping this one open....Mrs. J-M

Beginning today all of the students at Badger Middle School (about 900) will participate in a Triathlon. They will swim, bike and run, either as part of a team, or individually. This will take place at the high school over the next 3 days. This event was moved to the high school when the pool at Badger was filled in. If it was not for the high school pool, this event would not take place. Thank goodness there are people out there working to save this pool. While this is a requirement for Phy Ed, the kids have a great time and look forward to it every year.

The high school pool is a center of health and wellness for children, adults, and our special needs population. The loss of this special facilty would be devastating to our community. I swam in the pool throughout my childhood, and my children continue to use it today. As a person who frequents ths aquatic center, it is obvoious that it is an important part of our community . The pool is always buzzing with activity through the use of various community and school programs. It is very sad that a community of our size has difficulty supporting this valuable asset. Our family is grateful that there is a group of citizens who are passionate about doing everything they can to save it for all of us. Thank you!

I participated on the West swim team in High School and continue to swim to this day. The High school pool is my only option to get in some lap swimming since I do not want a YMCA membership.

Our oldest daughter found her niche with swim. As a natural water lover, she gained confidence through her successes with competitive swimming which transferred to her schoolwork and her general self-image. She brought her love for swim to her classmates at school and to her younger sister, who has equally enjoyed the fun, health benefits, and comaraderie with boys and girls from around the community.
Our sincere gratitude to the coaches and volunteer swim club board members who keep the WBSC going and have been so welcoming to us throughout the years!
We urge the WB community to make the commitment to keep an indoor public pool available to students and adults. The pool is an asset to our community!

I was saddened to learn about the possibility of losing yet another West Bend Pool. Some children thrive on soccer, football, cheerleading, poms, basketball, volleyball, and yes, SWIMMING. Who is to say that one sport is better than any other? It is just as silly to talk about getting rid of the gymnasium as it is to get rid of the swimming pool. My daughter is new to swim club this year and just loves it. Yes, she plays other sports as well, but swimming is "her thing". How can the disctict say no to such a vital part of our community? One of the reasons we chose West Bend to raise our family was because of all the potential this city has to offer. Well, the list of perks, quite frankly, has been diminishing for the past few years. I do realize that the economy is not doing well, and cuts have to be made, but is this really the answer? Taking away from our children and our community is not the answer. Come on West Bend, lets pull it together and find a different alternative and SAVE OUR POOL!!!!!!!!!

I'm Kelsey Ogle a 21 year old Student Athlete at the University Wisconsin Milwaukee and the thought of the WBHS pool possibly shutting down breaks my heart. I have been swimming in that pool since the age of 5 with the WBSC. That pool was my training facility for over 10 years of my life. It is where I trained for my 10+ Wisconsin state titles I have broken a number of records in that pool through my high school years. I grew up there, over half of my childhood memories revolve around competitive swimming which took place at the high school. Not only did I swim there but I worked there for over 5 years as a swim coach and a lifeguard. I was a guard there for 5 years and not once did I have to get in to make a save and I think thats a tribute to our community and that we take water safety seriously. So many of our kids have learned how to swim there and taking this pool away only hurts our future kids.
